Consultation on Local Listed Building Consent Orders

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are exploring ways to help owners of listed buildings make their properties more energy-efficient and sustainable, while preserving their historical significance. One option may be through the introduction of a Local Listed Building Consent Order (‘LLBCO’): a legal tool that would simplify the process for making certain types of improvements to listed buildings, where it is recognised that many owners find it difficult to navigate the current legislative process.

Your perspective is invaluable to them, and your insights and experiences are crucial in determining whether this would be a viable and effective tool for us to explore further. This consultation is an opportunity for all to influence how we can collectively enhance the energy efficiency of listed buildings, contribute to our carbon neutrality goals, and safeguard our precious heritage.

Please visit Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council's consultation questionnaire at https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/MUEQAA/ to share your views. The process is designed to be straightforward and accessible, ensuring that everyone can contribute with ease.

Their press release is also available here.

The consultation period is open from 10th November until 29th December 2023.
